Cooling Off

Been a very hot few days and we are in the middle of a heat wave. End of last weekend was The Coventry Godiva Festival. We did visit but the large crowds hot weather and a dog to walk didn't agree with me so came home and spent most off the weekend on a supper long siesta and walked in the evening when things had cooled down a little. Monday we took a evening trip out to Stratford on Avon Greenway and walked along The Avon and spent a little time cooling off in The River Stour where it joins the Avon. Was a nice little respite for us all. Spritzer had fun trying to grab a branch but this one was securely attached to the tree. Tuesday was our obedience training night and I am glad to say Spritzer passed her bronze award with flying colours so its now onto silver award. Well that's about it for now so bye for now be good and I will write back soon.

Well today we had organized a trip with friends to Birmingham and to see dragon boat racing, but like all best plans they had to be laid to rest as no trains running this weekend due to engineering work. Not to worry we quickly organized ourselves and eventually ended up at Dobbies World in The Anker Valley about nine miles north of Coventry, then onto Sutton Cheeney and Ashby Canal, and The Battlefields at Bosworth.

At Dobbies they had a deer hide and deer park where we hung out looking for deers. We were very lucky indeed today that one of the deers came right up and let us stroke him. We have deers near by in the woods at Brandon but I've never seen them as they are very elusive and usually shy creatures. So to say I was delighted for the first time to be able to get up close and actually touch one is a understatement as I was over the moon. The deer let me stroke its antlers which where soft and felt like velvet. It was very rewarding to touch its nose stroke it's back and feed it some shoots off a tree. Also at Dobbies we got to stroke a couple of pigs who found our friend Teresa's skirt quiet tasty much to her annoyance. A nice tree top walk lots of nice lily ponds with plenty of frogs and coy carp, wildfowl and The walk along The River Anker made this a very interesting and enjoyable nature walk to visit indeed.

After Dobbies it was just a few miles down the road to Sutton Cheeney on The Ashby Canal which we walked along for a little while through some woods and on to the famous Battle Fields of Bosworth where Richard III, the last Plantagenet king, was left dead on the field and thus placing Henry VII on the throne as the first of a new, Tudor dynasty. While we where at the Battlefields we saw some soldiers training for a reenactment who where preparing to let of some cannons. Then we had a nice scrummy picnic that was kindly provided for us by Teresa. After we burnt off some calories and walked to Shenstone Station where there are regular Steam Trains to Market Harbrough before making our way home.

All in All a lovly day out but tiring !

Like A Dog With Two D**ks

Another week or so since I have wrote in my blog so thought I had better update it. Delighted at the moment after a rather busy but difficult week with few travel adventures, things have eventually turned out rather nice. This evening was The Coventry Dog Training Club's annual BBQ and a very pleasant and enjoyable evening it was too ! ... A great fun event. ! It was a real shame we did not have the camera to record the event but unfortunately Jon had left it at my sisters house. Oh well... another time. Spritz actually came fifth in her obedience class which delighted me as I never seem to win much... arr ! We did win another rosette but they ran out. Yes I know fifth isn't first but I am still well chuffed and we enjoyed taking part. Yesterday I got a new toy a brand new phone which I'm also happy with at the moment. It as all bells and whistles and mobile TV too ! Which hence the title of today's blog. T

The week as been hot and very muggy not much time for sleeping at night so very exhausted. The fan doesn't seem to do much and we can't afford air conditioning. There's was a respite in the latter part of the day with a little storm and cool rain which was refreshing but short lived.

Last week we went for a evening walk at Corley Rocks which is very near to where I live and took some exercise there trying to climb them. Climbing can be a bit strenuous and is good exercise. At the weekend we spent Saturday at our friends Teresa ad Max's they had the pool out so was a delight to have a splash round and cool off in that especially in the days heat. Saturday evening we had a BBQ at Teresa's sister and husband Paula's and Brian's who where very good hosts and made us very welcome. There was plenty to eat and drink and good company too. Sunday was yet another day by the pool which is the best place to be at the moment.
